This annual event has long served as a meaningful gathering to recognize those making a difference in local land conservation. In 2025, we’re expanding the experience with a focused half day educational symposium built around a theme inspired by our to-be-announced Oak Leaf Award honoree: The Power of Volunteerism for Lasting Conservation Impact. Each year, DLC presents the Oak Leaf Award to a regional conservation hero. This year’s recipient is an exceptional volunteer and a steadfast advocate for open spaces and conservation across the Front Range. We also recognize outstanding land stewardship with the Mel Sorensen Stewardship Award. Our 2025 honoree has led and expanded the DLC/DCOSNR Colorado Bluebird Project team for nearly a decade. In addition to our traditional awards ceremony honoring outstanding local conservation heroes, the event will now feature: - A compelling keynote by Beth Steinhorn of VQ Volunteer Strategies exploring how grassroots engagement fuels enduring environmental change - Two dynamic breakout sessions led by experienced land stewards and strategic volunteer leaders from Jefferson County Open Space - Thoughtful opportunities for networking, learning, and community-building among peers in conservation over a delicious catered lunch Whether you're a long-time supporter, a first-time volunteer, or a professional working to protect Colorado’s natural heritage, this is an event designed to inform, inspire, and ignite continued action.
